PMI Project NetMix - Past Events
PMI Night at PNC Park, May 10, 2014
Thanks to our chapter members and friends for making May 10, 2014 a PMI event to remember at PNC Park!
Our Pirates tailgate party drew over 120 members, friends and family for hamburgers, hotdogs, pop, and good times. While there was the threat of rain, the game started right on time. And the Pirates beat the Cardinals 4-3! The Fireworks after the game really helped to cap off a great day. Click here for pictures from the event!
Thank you to everyone that participated, and especially to our great staff of volunteers. We are looking forward to next year for our 3rd Annual PMI Pittsburgh Pirates Night in 2015. It promises to be the best one yet!
Bowl and Network – Networking Mixer event
Thank you to our chapter members, family and friends, for making our inaugural Bowl and Network event a true success! Thankfully, I am not going to be recording anyone’s game scores here! This night was really all about having a good time, and being able to interact with each other. We were able to meet, discuss a little Project Management, and get to know each other a lot better. A good time was had by all, and we are all looking forward to getting together once again! For more information, please contact Paul Halenda, PMP at: dir_outreach_events@pittsburghpmi.org

Oxford Development’s Project Director, Michael Barnard, is presented on how projects of large magnitude can be broken down into manageable phases and stages. During the session you will learn tips and tricks that you can use to effectively build your own project plans into manageable pieces and Work Breakdown documents.

The meeting went very well. Our host Lee Guo opened by introducing Westinghouse, the nuclear industry, lessons learned in nuclear industry and the tools at Westinghouse used to track them.
The remainder of the time was an open forum with a number of people sharing experience, lessons learned, best practices, root cause analysis, quality and performance measurement methods from financial, Health Care, IT, transportation, and Power and Energy industries.
All in attendance are a little wiser and 1 PDU richer. If you would like to host a future event at your company, please contact . The host's preparation time for the event does earn additional PDUs.
PMI Hands on Workshop Series - Past Events
On Tuesday, November 12th, 27 people attended our Hands on Workshop at Industrial Scientific Corporation, in Hanky Farms. Our featured speaker, Laura Nee gave us an overview of Microsoft Virtual Project Office (VPO) software. In addition, we got to test drive VPO and learn how companies are seeing more business and project success by using this tool! During the presentation and hands on portion, people in attendance were able to ask questions and others in attendance also shared insight on their own past and current projects. The topic and discussions were very informative, and will prove to be helpful in expanding knowledge base for future projects.
We ended the meeting with announcements of the near-future Pittsburgh PMI education and networking events. Thank you to Laura Nee and Beth Anderson for showing us new strategies for online Project Management, and also thank you to Industrial Scientific Corporation for hosting the event!
