Project Management Thought: Value at Completion

Projects aim to create value.  Metrics managed throughout projects are often about cost, scope, and time. We have metrics targeting the ends of projects like cost Estimate-At-Completion (EAC) per the PMBOK® Guide
and schedule completion date. We monitor and control these metrics.

Estimated Value-At-Completion is another important metric to monitor and control. I’ll call it
“VAC”. As we work on projects and adjust the scope, the impact on value is important to
manage well!

Upcoming Meetings

November Chapter Meeting

The November Chapter Meeting will be held at the Omni William Penn Hotel

When: Thursday, November 9th, 2017, 6:00PM - 8:00PM
Topic: Steve Jobs - The Lost Interview
Presented by: Jeff Tobe
Location: Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
PDU: 1

Presentation:  Although Steve Jobs is not available to come to our meeting in person (for a number of reasons!), Certified Professional Speaker Jeff Tobe brings the next best thing.  The year was 1995 and Steve Jobs sat down with a BBC interviewer to give what, most people say, was his best interview ever.  The reel was shipped to a PBS station in Oregon and was lost forever.  When Jobs died in 2011, a BBC producer remembered that there had to be a VHS copy somewhere.  They located that copy and today, Jeff facilitates sessions based on the lessons learned from that interview. No matter what you think of Steve Jobs, this candid and passionate discussion looks at high-performance teams, leadership and innovation; everything a Project Manager should be considering on a daily basis.
