Community Outreach provides members an opportunity to serve their community in the Pittsburgh area, and presents in a positive light the benefits and good that comes from proper project management. We draw on the experience and expertise of our chapter members to provide support to volunteer organizations through maximization of resources using project management best practices.

Pay it Forward!
At the November Chapter meeting Pittsburgh PMI will be hosting our annual charity Outreach event supporting Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard with the Pay it Forward event. We will be hosting a house warming party to assist the Veterans place in providing necessities for local veterans in need.
HALFWAY THERE!
We are half way to our goal of raising $1000.00 in member donations to Veterans Place of Washington Blvd! Thank you to all of those who have contributed so far to this great cause. Additional thanks is deserved for the chapter, as it will match the dollar value of all gifts, up to $1000.00, to double our support for Veterans in need.
Let's join together to make a big impact for this outstanding organization by visiting the online wish lists at Walmart and Target and purchasing items that support Veterans Place. The items can be shipped direct or brought to the November Chapter meeting:

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, located in the East End Communities of Allegheny County, is a 48-bed transitional housing and safe haven day program for homeless men and women who once served in the U.S. Military.
The Veterans served range in age, ethnicity, gender and military branches. They share one common thread; that holds them as one is the fact that they are experiencing the trials of homelessness and need our help.
At Veterans Place, the mission is to improve the lives of America's homeless military Veterans. They do this through supportive housing and services that empower Veterans for recovery.
Through partnership with Veterans Administration and other community organizations, they work to end homelessness, one Veteran at a time.
Most Veterans arrive with just the clothes on their back. Veterans Place provides them with the day to day necessities of living.

2013 Walk to End Alzheimer's
Our chapter members and their family and friends walked for the third year in the Burgh's Walk to End Alzheimer's on Saturday, October 5th at the North Shore!
Walking this year were Betsy Norton from PNC Bank, Chris Walker from Eaton Corporation, Lisa Carney-Majesky (and friend Pat) from Eaton Corporation, Mike Coxon from Eaton Corporation, Kim Mangan (who also brought our canine mascot) from BNY Mellon, Jason McMann (and wonderful son) from ADP, Peter Korancie-Boah (and wonderful son, wife, and aunt) from Alcoa, Lorraine Robinson from Industrial Scientific Corporation and our Team Captain Jan Hanchak from Eaton Corporation.
It rained at the beginning but we had a sunny finish. The highlight of the day, besides representing the PMI Pittsburgh Chapter, was seeing the DUCK located at the Point.
We raised a total of $1,061 and we thank those who could not walk but donated to the ALZ walk!
2012 Walk To End Alzheimer’s is a huge success
Despite a damp, chilly morning at the Pittsburgh Zoo, on Saturday October 6, 2012, sixteen Pittsburgh PMI team members gathered for the second year to participate in the Walk To End Alzheimer’s with the Chapter’s team, ‘Pittsburgh Project Management Institute.’ This year’s event was a huge success! Through the generous donations of PMI members and their family, friends, and colleagues, the group raised $2790.00, surpassing our goal of $1500.00 and beating last year’s $1600.00! Congratulations to the Pittsburgh PMI team and all of those who contributed for a successful event! Our donations will support the families served by the Alzheimer’s Association.
"Unbirthday Party"
What a great way to end a year! At our last chapter meeting for the 2011-2012 year, we collected summer clothes and donations for needy children in Westmoreland County. 141 children benefitted from the generosity of our chapter members!
We would like to thank all of the members of the committee who made this event possible, especially Julie Inman the committee lead.
Additionally, we would like to thank the sponsors who also made this possible:
Scribble Fancy - who created the invitations to the Alice in Wonderland themed "Unbirthday Party"
Alcoa - who printed the invitations
Ansaldo - who provided toys for the children
Paddycakes bakery - who provided the lovely pastries
And of course, "Thank you" to all of the members who donated!!!
