At PMI Pittsburgh Chapter, we know that project management isn't just about delivering great work—it's also about making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.

That's exactly what our 412 Redd Up and Connect event was all about.

This spring, chapter members, local professionals, and community volunteers came together on Pittsburgh's North Shore to support the City's Immaculate Collection Initiative in partnership with Allegheny CleanWays. As part of PMI's Earth Month celebration, the event gave us an opportunity to step away from our desks, roll up our sleeves, and help make our city a little cleaner.

Working side by side, volunteers collected litter throughout the neighborhood, helping keep one of Pittsburgh's busiest areas clean, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.

While we were proud of what we accomplished during the cleanup, the event was about much more than picking up trash.

Living the Spirit of Volunteer Leadership

Small actions can have a big impact. By volunteering a few hours of our time, we helped improve our local environment while supporting PMI's commitment to social good. It's a reminder that creating positive change doesn't always require a large project—sometimes it starts with simply showing up.

One of the best parts of the event was working alongside others who care about our community. Partnering with Allegheny CleanWays allowed us to contribute to a larger citywide effort while demonstrating what collaboration looks like outside the workplace.

The event welcomed both PMI members and non-members, making it easy for anyone who wanted to get involved. Whether it was someone's first volunteer event or one of many, everyone played an important role in making the day a success.

Connecting Beyond the Cleanup

After filling our bags with litter, we wrapped up the day with a casual networking meetup. It was a great opportunity to get to know fellow volunteers, share experiences, and build new professional connections in a relaxed setting.

Events like 412 Redd Up and Connect remind us that some of the strongest connections are built while working toward a common goal. Community service and professional networking don't have to be separate—they can go hand in hand.

Thank You!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event a success. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made a real difference, and we're proud to have such an engaged community of project professionals who are committed to giving back.

We look forward to creating more opportunities to connect, volunteer, and make a positive impact together. We hope you'll join us at the next one!
