While the rest of Pittsburgh was raiding stores for bread, milk, eggs, and toilet paper in preparation for the big storm on Saturday, January 24, 2026, members of your PMI Pittsburgh board of directors huddled together in Cranberry to build the strategic plan for the rest of the year.

As a bunch of experienced Project Managers, we relied on a familiar set of tools to plan a productive 2026.

We started with an ice breaker to name our personal choice for a "walk out" song before moving into a good, old-fashioned SWOT Analysis. We also spent a lot of time working out how to attract and retain volunteers (HINT: check out our posted volunteer positions on PMI.org). We realized we need to do a better job defining each of our volunteer roles, creating a playbook when necessary.

We also discussed themes to energize our membership over the coming months, everything from helping the city prepare for the Draft in April to bringing back local Communities of Practice.

We ended by talking about the need to onboard members like you so that you have clearer picture of what your PMI Pittsburgh membership brings you, who your board is, and what we do. We're pleased to announce our first Onboarding meeting on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. We plan to have many more. We know other chapters use these to great success. Even if you've been a member for years, we encourage you to join us to learn more about PMI Pittsburgh and what we offer.
