When I moved to Pittsburgh in 2016, I found myself in a new city full of opportunities, but also facing the challenge of building a professional network from scratch. Eager to connect with others in my field, I attended a PMI Pittsburgh outreach event. What started as a simple effort to meet new people quickly turned into something much more meaningful—I became a volunteer that very day.
Volunteering has always been an important part of my life. It’s not just about giving back; it’s about living out the values that matter most to me. Collaboration, community building, and making a lasting positive impact are at the core of what drives me. Through my journey with PMI Pittsburgh, especially now as Chapter President, I’ve learned firsthand how powerful it can be when people come together to work toward shared goals.
As a volunteer, I’ve had the chance to use my project management skills in new and exciting ways. Whether it’s helping plan a chapter event, mentoring new members, or supporting local initiatives, volunteering offers countless opportunities to make a real difference. Each project is a chance to bridge people, ideas, and purpose, leading to tangible results that benefit both the organization and the wider community.
What inspires me most are the countless volunteers who give their time and energy to our chapter. These dedicated individuals embody our collective responsibility to support and uplift others. Their commitment is a testament to the power of community and the impact we can have when we work together.
If you’re interested in making a difference while expanding your skills and network, I encourage you to consider volunteering with PMI Pittsburgh. The
Volunteer Engagement Platform is a great place to start, or you can reach out to any Board Member for more information. By getting involved, you’ll not only help drive meaningful change but also discover a deeper sense of purpose and belonging.
Together, we can continue to build bridges—between projects, people, and purpose—and create lasting positive change for our community.
