We have a few exciting things to discuss this month. First, Valerie and I attended the PMI Region 4 meeting in Detroit, MI in May. This meeting is always a great time to get together with the other chapters in our region, meet vendors, and share ideas. This meeting was no exception. A few highlights for me:
- The three Pennsylvania chapters spent some time together and want to begin a collaboration. We don’t have details worked out yet, but I have to say I am very excited about the prospect of bringing all of the PA members together (virtually) and sharing idea, speakers, or maybe just offering discounts to educational events at other chapters. I will keep you informed as we move this idea forward.
- The Pittsburgh Chapter was invited to speak about the work we are doing around diversity and inclusion. I talked about our Women’s group and the work being done to engage emerging professionals. This opened up conversations with other chapters and I am looking forward to working together to build an even stronger D&I program in the future.
- PMI is celebrating its 50th anniversary. PMI Global shared with us some ways PMI is celebrating the past and focusing on the future. Keep your eyes open for an event we are planning here in Pittsburgh to celebrate with PMI in the near future.
Also, please keep your eye out for our election email. We will be voting for a few key roles, President, VP of Education, VP of Membership, and VP of Finance.
Remember, our main chapter meeting this month will be at the Eden Hall campus of Chatham University in Gibsonia. The Pittsburgh ESWP location will still be open, but the live action will be happing in Gibsonia. We hope to see you there!
MAY 1 TO OCTOBER 11 - Pittsburgh PMI Project of the Year
After several years of absence, the PMI Pittsburgh chapter is bringing back the Project of the Year award. This competition will challenge organizations across the region to create and submit their best entries in the professional, academic, and community realms.
The deadline for submission will be on October 11th, and award winners will be announced at our November 13th Chapter Meeting.
Outreach Volunteer Opportunities
Your PMI chapter wants to increase the value to the companies that sponsor our members. Part of that effort is to help identify how we can best add value within member companies and raise member awareness of educational opportunities. To meet that objective, the position of Company Coordinator serves as a key volunteer for our member companies. This entails a minor commitment and offers PDU’s for participation.
If you are interested please send your name, company, and contact info to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We look forward to partnering with you.
