Navigating the Complexities of Public Sector Sustainability & Resiliency Projects (Chapter meeting)
Sustainability and resilience work in the public sector is as challenging as it is essential—especially when managing projects for federal and military clients. This session offers a practical, project management–focused perspective on leading sustainability-driven initiatives that aim to reduce long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts. Drawing from nearly three decades of consulting experience, Alex Lackner will share insights into navigating complex stakeholder environments, aligning project goals with federal sustainability mandates, and overcoming institutional inertia.
Topics will include climate and resilience planning, organizational sustainability strategy, and master planning for government facilities. He’ll also highlight tools and approaches used to manage cross-sector partnerships and build consensus—offering lessons learned and strategies for project managers leading similar efforts in the public sphere.
