At Pittsburgh PMI, our Outreach Program promotes project management as a force for positive and lasting change in our community. We engage with representatives of local businesses, academic institutions, professional associations, and the broader Pittsburgh community to drive project success and support the growth of project professionals. Our outreach efforts aim to foster a culture of excellence and continual improvement.

Our mission is to raise awareness of project management's value and empower organizations and individuals to achieve their full potential. By supporting the development of future leaders and helping organizations deliver successful projects, we elevate our community and the our world.

Our Commitments

Through strategic outreach, we aim to:
Maximize Project Success: Promote best practices and project management standards that drive organizational and community outcomes.
Cultivate Talent: Support the development and growth of project professionals by offering learning opportunities and resources.
Elevate Our Community: Apply project management skills to social good, aligning with PMI's commitment to positively impacting society.

Several Engagement Areas focus our outreach efforts. Each area is designed to enhance project management practices, foster professional development, and create meaningful connections between our members and the organizations they work in and serve.

  • Corporate Outreach: Led by Jason McMann, we partner with businesses to advance project management as a strategic value driver and leadership cultivator.
  • Professional and Community Outreach: Directed by Josh Dilly, this engagement area focuses on applying project management principles to benefit local non-profits, community organizations, and professional associations.
  • Military and Veterans Outreach: Fred Koos leads our Military and Veterans Outreach, connecting veterans with project management resources to support their transition to civilian careers and helping them harness leadership skills gained during their service.
  • Academic Outreach: Julianne Wolfe's Education team engages with students and institutions to advance project management education and develop future project leaders.
  • PMI Global Outreach: Aligning with PMI Global initiatives and contributing to the broader project management community.
  • Outreach Events: Managed by John Fordyce, this area organizes events that connect professionals, facilitate knowledge sharing, and foster collaboration within the project management community.
