Presentation Skills and Storytelling - The Fine Art of Getting Their Attention
Summary
We've all been cornered. In meetings, in conferences, in the hall, and over coffee. A story begins, and it feels like it will never end and never come to a point. While others may do that to us, we never have to do that to others again. Every personal and professional communications encounter is a chance to cement relationships and convey powerful ideas. And perhaps the most powerful approach to getting others' attention is through stories. In this half-day workshop, you'll learn how to leverage your favorite stories to build rapport with your peers and get them to remember what you want them to remember.
You'll learn how to drop your audience's names to draw them back in when you believe they're beginning to drift. You'll know what people are saying about you after you share your insights. And you'll find story sources for even the most complex and technical subject matter, bringing it to a level where difficult ideas are now framed in the familiar. Carl Pritchard, PMI-RMP, PMP (and PMI Global "Best of the Best in Project Management-2019") gives you a chance to build out your stories so that they are more impactful and shorter.
This 4-hour course will include a combination of discussion and exercises focusing on topics like:
- The presentation environment
- Five tactics for effective storytelling
- Setting the storytelling stage
- Building trust with your stakeholders so they listen to what you have to say!
