Descend to Soar - Why Humility is Important in Leadership
Registration for this event is now closed.
As powerful as humility is, a common misconception is that it's a sign of weakness. Some think that people who are humble behave as if they are inferior to others. As a result, humility is not regarded as a critical skill. But the fact is that there is an incredible amount of courage and strength involved in the practice of humility, especially for those in leadership.
As a leader, it is critical for you to understand that humility is the foundation of great leaders and the basis for world-class customer service. This presentation will highlight how humility can take your career, your teams, and your organization to heights you may not have imagined.
Speaker Info:
With a career spanning more than three decades across four continents, Sunday Faronbi (Sunny) is using the skills he developed while leading teams to enable, motivate, and empower organizations by coaching teams and leaders to develop the skills necessary for leadership positions. As a conference speaker and coach to project managers, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals, and executives, Sunny speaks frequently about how to tap into the power of your emotions to work for you instead of allowing them to work against you.
With an engineering background, Sunny began to learn what it takes to be a leader when
he started leading teams of engineers and other professionals on projects across international boundaries. As a leader of teams, he realized that he needed to improve his communication and leadership skills. His journey led him to find the strong connections between emotional intelligence skills and leadership behaviors. As he learned and refined these skills, Sunny saw positive changes in his professional relationships. Consequently, he developed the passion to coach, mentor, teach, write, and speak about how emotions affect how we lead and build influence.
An avid traveler, Sunny brings unique perspectives gleaned from real-world experiences. Audiences and readers alike love the practical applications he brings from his insights. His experience includes the Service, Technology, Manufacturing, and Food & Beverage industries. Sunny holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Engineering Management degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He has been a Project Management Professional (PMP) credential holder since June 2006. Sunny is a certified Emotional Intelligence coach and is a member of the Maxwell Leadership Team of coaches and speakers. He is also the author of the critically-acclaimed book, “𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒓 – 𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝑵𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝑶𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒐𝒂𝒓”.
