Volunteering as a Board member provides a rewarding personal and professional experience. Volunteers provide guidance, attend events both educational and social, and find fun in the Project Management space.
Nomination qualifications include that the candidate be a PMI Pittsburgh member in good standing and have relevant experience for the role. All Officers are expected to attend and assist in the operation of monthly Chapter meetings and monthly Board business meeting.
The nomination committee wants to help you help the Chapter. There may be a role other than your first interest that would suit you. We will work with you to ensure you have a successful volunteer experience.
We are calling for all Board Self-Nominations and Nominations for the following roles, each for a two-year term. (1/1/25 – 12/31/26).
VP of Administration: responsible for project management of the Board and Chapter. The VP Administration will schedule all Board meetings, preparing, maintaining, recording, and circulating all records, correspondence, minutes of meetings and related affairs of the chapter. They will also monitor deliverables and are responsible for coordinating annual project charter renewal activities with PMI Global liaisons. They shall also have oversight for the maintenance and presentation of all elections and their records required for chapter.
VP of Governance: responsible for addressing governance and policy issues, including ensuring the maintenance and enforcement of Chapter Bylaws and Policies.
VP of Marketing & Communications: responsible for chapter marketing and public relations to increase awareness of both the chapter and the PMI brand within the chapter footprint. The Marketing VP will develop and execute an integrated marketing, communications, and public relations program to support the chapter's annual objectives.
VP of Outreach: responsible for enhancing the visibility, influence, and strategic impact of PMI Pittsburgh within the Pittsburgh Chapter region. This role proactively fosters collaborative relationships and mutually beneficial exchanges with local corporations, community organizations, government entities, academic institutions, and military groups.
VP of Programs: responsible for establishing PMI Pittsburgh’s monthly programs and planning special events and the delivery of professional and educational programs by competent speakers, and ensuring all necessary arrangements are made for the monthly Chapter meetings.

What to do if I want to run for an open Board position?
Please send an MS Word Document to elections@pittsburghpmi.org with the following details:
- The title of the Board Position that you are interested in
- Your sentiment about why you want to work in this capacity with the PMI Pittsburgh Chapter [no more than 50 words]
- Details from your experience that support your ability to work this Board position
- A photo of you in PDF format
What do I do if I want to run for the board, yet I’m not quite sure?
If you are interested in standing for the election and want to discuss your options, please contact elections@pittsburghpmi.org and we’ll talk through the next steps including speaking with current Board members.
How long do I have to make up my mind?
The deadline to submit your intentions is Monday, July 15, 2024.
What if I want to take on more responsibility, but am not quite ready for a Board position?
If you would like to take a more active role but are not quite ready for the Board, consider assisting a Board member in a Director or other volunteer position.
Directors and volunteers assist Board members in one of the functional areas and are appointed by the Board. A list of the open Director and volunteer positions is found on the PMI Pittsburgh Chapter website under the “Membership / Community / Volunteer Opportunities.” Look for the link to the PMI volunteer site, open the link and search for Pittsburgh PMI Chapter opportunities. How do prospective Board candidates run a campaign?
Campaigning will be electronic only and hosted on the PMI Pittsburgh Chapter website.
Each open Board position will contain a picture of the candidate and their biographies. This information will be due no later than Monday, July 15, 2024.
It will be available for viewing by Chapter members before and during the three-week August voting period.
How will I know if I’ve been accepted as a Board candidate?
As soon as your interest is made known, our Nomination Committee will contact you. Watch for an email from elections@pittsburghpmi.org .
