We will review a 12-minute youTube video [ Millennials in the Workforce, A Generation of Weakness - Simon Sinek YouTube Video Link ]; Afterward we will share our lessons learned experiences working with and leading Millennial coworkers.

Greg has 10 years experience leading eLeaning projects, including medical simulations, with teams mostly comprised of Millennials. During the the past three years as Johnstown Satellite Director I have carried on multiple discussions with members who have experienced challenges with this generation. And finally, during my 5-years at Trent Insurance Agency, I have listened to various business owners express concern and question Millennial work ethic.

Explore unconscious bias – including your own. Use this knowledge to recognize the impact of biases in the workplace and learn strategies to prevent biases from impacting anyone’s achievement in the workplace. Research shows that unconscious bias is a significant factor in the underrepresentation of women and racial minorities in leadership as well as other critical workplace positions. This workshop is designed to create an awareness of how unconscious bias shows up in organizational practices. Practical solutions are offered that are research-based and actionable by the participants. Learning Outcomes As a result of attending this program, attendees will: · Understand unconscious bias and how it differs from explicit bias  Recognize how stereotypes inform unconscious bias  Explore individual biases · Identify how unconscious bias manifests itself in the workplace. Discuss strategies to overcoming workplace biases.

Dr. Kathleen Buse is a business leader whose work focuses on advancing women in the workplace. As Director of Research, she guides the ERC efforts to advance workplace best practices, including employee engagement strategies and the NorthCoast99 program. Additionally, she is leading the efforts at ERC to expand the use of data analytics to support client initiatives. As Director of the ERC Women’s Leadership Institute Kathleen helps employers recruit, retain, and advance women through research-based solutions and development services. Kathleen’s experience includes 25 years in industry, beginning as an engineer and advancing to executive leadership. She spent ten years in academia where she became an award-winning researcher and top-rated educator. After immersing herself in the five decades of research on women in the workplace and drawing on her own experiences in industry, she has designed strategies and solutions including educational programs for women, their colleagues, and their leaders. The results of this work has shown significant improvement in women’s achievement within organizations. Prior to her role at ERC she was president of Advancing Women in the Workforce, faculty director for the Leadership Lab and professor at Case Western Reserve University. She has worked for Kodak, Lubrizol, Avery Dennison, and Sherwin-Williams.

Dr. Buse earned a Ph.D. in Management from Case Western Reserve University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and a BS in Chemical Engineering/Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. Her volunteer work includes board member at the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, and Magnificat High School where she chairs the Education Committee and chair of the United Way of Lake County, is on the. She and her husband have three children and live in Lake County, Ohio.
